Where we live
About our home:
We are a family of four and we have done many homeexchanges since more than ten years now. We only do exchanges for a minimum stay of 14 days during the school holidays, no short exchanges. Preferred period is August. As being allergic to pets (dogs and cats) we cannot go to houses with pets and you cannot bring pets in our home. Our house is just a few steps from the river Inn and a ten minute walk along the river to the historic town of Wasserburg. It is a convenient and modern house. It has an open kitchen with a large dining room. The living room is a nice, very brightly place to be. The master bedroom has a large bed (2mx2m). The children's rooms are equipped for infants up to ~10 years. (Many toys and books!). One of the children rooms also has a spare bed (1,40mx2m), so it may also be used by two elder kids or adults. If it will be used by adults, we will prepair this room for the exchange. You can spend your time on the terrace, do a barbecue. Or you take a very nice walk along the river into the old city center of Wasserburg. There you can go shopping, have a coffee or a drink and go to one of the many good restaurants.
About our Area:
Wasserburg (-see: https://www.wasserburg.de/en/sightseeing/impressions) is a lovely town and very friendly so you may get in contact with people here easily. It's in a very friendly neighbourhood near to the historic town of Wasserburg am Inn in walking distance. Our house is ideally located as a touring base in the south-east of bavaria (-see: https://www.chiemsee-alpenland.de/). For exploring the region by bike, we can exchange two e-bikes. ---Wasserburg: A first glimpse of the town impresses immediately. Almost an island, practically surrounded by the river Inn Wasserburg appears quite extraordinary. On entering the town, the visitor has the feeling of entering a fairy tale world. A town with pastel coloured walls, archways and battlements, a gateway and mighty fortress. The old part of town with its colourful gothic houses pulsates with life and when the street cafés overflow, locals and visitors just meet together under the arcades to shop, celebrate or chat in its narrow streets. The almost completely preserved medieval old town of Wasserburg is altogether, a first class attraction. The rural landscape around Wasserburg is a paradise for nature lovers, whether on foot or by bicycle. Numerous footpaths and cycle ways criss-cross the valley floor of the Inn and the moraines and hills of the Bavarian "Alpenvorlandes" with its many magnificent views. ---Region Chiemgau/Chiemsee-Alpenland: For example Wasserburg-Chiemsee is 30min by car and 20min to the lake-district Egsstätt/Hemhof, half an hour to Rosenheim and less than one hour to the bigger mountain and hiking regions like the wonderful Samerberg, Kampenwand or Hocheck areas. ---Distances to well known places: Wasserburg is part of the "Alpenvorland" in the Alpes-Region of Bavaria "Oberbayern" (-see: https://www.oberbayern.de). Its about 1 hour to Salzburg (Austria) (-see: https://www.stadt-salzburg.at). And 1 hour to Munich (-see: https://www.muenchen.de). You can also go by train within 1 hour to Munich, Landshut and Kufstein. Wasserburg has a train station, city bus and good public transport but it will be better to have a car to go around here more easily... ---The Chiemgau-Area offers so many things to do. We have many tips for things to do for you. We will provide many infos, folders etc. for your trip to Wasserburg.
